Hello there!

For more than 40 years, Drama Dock has proudly served the Vashon Island community by presenting affordable and artistically- and culturally-compelling live theatre productions. Vashon Island is a unique, rural area, accessible only by ferry and home to 11,000 residents in the southwestern pocket of King County, Washington. We provide our community with pathways for creative expression, personal growth, team-building, and cultural arts enrichment through our community-based theatre programs. Drama Dock provides programs to an economically-diverse and under-served community of working families, seniors, and youth who depend on accessible, on-island opportunities to participate in performing arts—whether on stage, behind the scenes, or in the audience.

We have long-standing partnerships with the Vashon and Puget Sound region's cultural, educational, and business communities that support producing plays and musicals, and providing theatre arts education to Vashon Island residents. We present an annual season of 2–4 productions to the community and provide over 150 people of all ages and backgrounds with the opportunity to work together on musicals and plays in which they gain experience in all aspects of theatre production. Many of our participants receive hands-on training in various production roles: parents who donate their time to build sets, youth who act and perform in Drama Dock shows, local theatre professionals, and volunteers who help with costumes and lighting.

We partner with local venues to present musicals that showcase new voices and plays to the community year-round. The Vashon High School theater is a key venue partner that helps us connect to the next generation and provide professional theater experiences, in- and out-of-school arts learning, and performance opportunities.

Drama Dock is proud to be a resident partner of Vashon Center for the Arts, sharing resources and expertise for their Youth Musical Theatre Program. Youth from the local schools on Vashon Island (and some home-schooled youth) participate in these productions.

Drama Dock always strives to deepen and expand our community partnerships, including with non-profits, high schools, colleges, and community centers, and increase participation, equity, diversity, and inclusion in our live productions. By strengthening our ties with our community partners, we expand visibility and engage both Vashon residents and mainland artists to be part of our productions—including performers, singers, directors, designers, and volunteers.
